VOODOO VILLAGES INTRODUCES A ‘NO PHONE POLICY': A FIRST IN BELGIUM

This year, Voodoo Village introduces a 'no phone policy' in some areas, a first for a Belgian festival. Anyone entering The Oracle will be asked at the entrance to cover their smart phone camera with a sticker. Photos and videos are not permitted. Maxim Dekegel, festival organiser: “The Oracle should be a unique experience shared with the Voodoo Village community. Memorable experiences are created by being fully in the moment, with no distractions.”

FOCUS ON WELLBEING

While music is obviously central, Voodoo Village is more than pumping beats. Mental well-being is a priority at the boutique festival. Organisations like Safe 'n Sound and Flow guarantee the safety of every Villager. Mobile teams of ‘safe souls’ roam the grounds to assist with disturbances, boundary-crossing behaviour and other issues. Anyone who needs time out can visit The Sanctuary, a stimulus-free zone near The Oracle, where a psychotherapist offers help and a listening ear. Voodoo Village even supports its visitors after the festival, by providing a hotline for mental support if needed. Anyone wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the festival can find peace and tranquillity in a variety of chill-out zones on the festival grounds. “Voodoo Village is one big village offering places to eat, shops, workshops, relaxation and meeting places… a mini-society in which everyone is free to be themselves. Voodoo Village is a place of love and connection. We want everyone to feel safe and to have a fantastic time,' explains Maxim Dekegel.
